Hairless Boy: Koca Yusuf
Kel Alico was

Koca Yusuf (Yusuf, the Great)

was born in the Karalar Village of Şumnu in 1857. He began to wrestle with

special wrestling trouser made of buffalo leather) and began wrestling.
His reputation firs spread over Ludogorie, then over Kirkpinar. He became
the greatest wrestler of all times in Turkish wrestling. He won all the
wrestling matches he participated in Europe and USA. He drowned in his
return voyage from USA in 1898 when the ferry carrying him sank. He
doesn't even own a grave.
Koca Yusuf is not only a climax in the Turkish wrestling, but also a
climax in the wrestling world. The field of the brave met the Koca Yusuf
for the first time when he opposed the famous Kel Alico who had remained
the head wrestler of Kirkpinar for 26 years in a row. Kel Alico, who had
come to Kirkpinar with the hope to become head wrestler of Kirkpinar for
27’Th time, were rivaled by a "rookie" boy called Yusuf of Ludoggorie.
This boy had insisted on participating the match determining the head
wrestler of Kirkpinar.
Everyone was expecting that the experienced wrestler of the field of the
brave, Kel Alico would make this "hairless boy" regret his decision to
oppose Alico. However, Yusuf of Ludogorie wrestled so powerfully that
Alico was surprised and didn't even hesitate to put his ruthlessness
famous among the world of wrestling.
However, as the hours pass by, the situation was worsening for Alico.
Moreover, tiredness was being observed in the famous old wrestler. His
title was in danger. No one wanted to see that a wrestler without defeat
for 26 years lose his throne in this way. When the people who wanted to

These words of Alico had touched so much to Yusuf that he could not help
his tears, and hugged and kissed the hand of great master. He begged with
a shivering voice:
"Master of the masters, the greatest wrestler of all wrestlers, my brave
master! Come on, let’s quit this match. You defeated me with your own
words. You made me lose my strength. I can't hold you after hearing your

Alico was also touched by these words just like the crowd surrounding the
field. Alico was about to cry. He put a warm kiss on the face of Yusuf of
Ludogorie and said:
”This field
is yours from now on. I would quit wrestling without any
concern after seeing a pehlivan like you. The prize and the title of head
wrestler is yours. Take both of them happily. Son, you deserved both of
them."
After that day, the area of Koca Yusuf began in the Turkish Wrestling.
Koca Yusuf, who emerged as an unrivalled force like a storm in the field
of the brave, left no rival to be defeated by him. He was not only for his
huge body, but also for his wrestling value nicknamed Koca (Great). Canny
organizers took this as an opportunity and took him to Europe. Koca Yusuf
won all the wrestling matches he participated in USA after winning all his
matches in Europe. A millionaire woman in USA fell in love with Koca Yusuf
who had defeated world famous wrestlers. She wanted to have a baby from
this climax of strength. When Koca Yusuf heard this, He roared, “I didn't
come here for breeding."
Koca Yusuf had won 800 pieces of gold from his matches in Europe and USA.
Koca Yusuf placed this gold in his belt, and took the ship called La
Buorgogne, a ferryboat carrying the French Flag, in his return voyage to
his homeland. La Buorgone collided with the called Cromartyshre under
Irish flag in Atlantic Ocean due to heavy fog. La Buorgogne carrying 721
passengers went under water in a few seconds.
A panic broke out in the sea. Survivors of the collision were seeking to
save their lives by boarding on the lifeboats. Koca Yusuf had also caught
the edge of a lifeboat. People on board the lifeboat were afraid of his
huge body's capsizing their lifeboat. They first tried to hit his face and
head with a row. However, this huge man's steel claws were seemed locked
to the lifeboat. Blood was flowing from his head and face down over his
moustache. Koca Yusuf's this state had terrified the people on board the
lifeboat. A person with a savage and animal spirit among the people in the
lifeboat grabbed a small ax used for cutting ropes in the lifeboat and
began to hit randomly on Koca Yusuf's steel claws with a savage passion.
Koca Yusuf's steel claws were cut from his wrists, and his huge body were
buried under the Atlantic Ocean.
